Schlitz
Joseph Schlitz took over a Milwaukee brewery and renamed it for himself in 1858. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, Schlitz shipped beer across Lake Michigan to the city, and “The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous” is popularly traced to that moment. Schlitz has long been a staple of Chicago bars, and many buildings around the city still sport the Schlitz globe on their facades. The red label and globe here were printed by Universal Match of Milwaukee.
