A fourth color from the same 1940 New York World’s Fair matchbook run, this one in a soft red. The fair opened in 1939 as “Building the World of Tomorrow,” but by this 1940 season the theme had quietly changed to “For Peace and Freedom,” as the war already underway in Europe was impossible to ignore.
